Sawtooth House Strathaven

Major extension to a farm cottage in South Lanarkshire. The family has outgrown the available space within the existing cottage and so a new wing is being created which reflects the footprint of the former milking shed.

The living room occupies the southern corner and benefits from the views over the valley below.

A simple single storey construction for the majority of the extension means some special architectural moments can be achieved within the relatively tight budget. These include furniture designed as part of the structure and an augmented roof structure in the within the living space.
