Future-Proofed Housing Dennistoun

We were appointed by a client in the middle years of their life, with children approaching the age where they would be moving out of the family home. The family presently occupy a very substantial semi detached stone villa in the Dennistoun Conservation Area in Glasgow, and the clients wanted to explore the possibiltiy of subdividing the villa into three flats, while at the same time extending at the ground floor, and making a garage/artists studio.

LCD worked with Elder and Cannon to develop the scheme to planning stage, which involved lengthy negotiations with the planning department, and LCD have taken the project on towards warrant and onto site. The scheme devises a new external stair which feeds two upper floor flats. The uppermost flat has two new rear facing dormer formations to provide additional accommodation. At ground floor, the flat has a new living/dining room which, along with the studio, forms a sheltered private garden.
