The Beton Home Netherlee
An internal reconfiguration of a terraced house on the South Side of Glasgow. The existing kitchen was cramped and detached from the living areas of the house, and there was a lack of storage on the ground floor of the property. The clients wanted an open plan 'cool' space in which they could entertain, with space to display their glassware and drinks (working as they do within the industry).
There was also an aspiration to have a nook into which the children's toys could be tidied at the end of the day so that the room could function as a family space through the day, and as an adults room during the evening. This generous storage space was hidden behind a vertically clad wall, all of which operates on push latches to ensure a simple, clean look was maintained in the room itself.
The kitchen and island were formed in micro cement concrete with bespoke frontages make in oak veneered ply.
